Established in 2007, Mooroolbark Dojo is the latest addition to the Wado Ryu of Japan, Australia Dojo list. Mooroolbark Dojo has gone from strength to strength since it began, with many of the students competing, placing and winning AKF (Australian Karate Federation) approved tournaments and in 2008 Mooroolbark Dojo became Wado Ryu Victorian Champions, the first team to beat the year-long competition's previous Champions in 12 years. And they have not lost one since!
Mooroolbark Dojo caters for students of all ages and abilities. With junior classes to work on basic, traditional techniques as well as competition training the well rounded approach encourages children to develop their motor skills as well as their attitudes, behaviours and social skills.
Adult classes, like the junior classes allow for beginners through to advanced students. Again with the focus on the traditional style of Wado Ryu students not only gain the positive physical aspects such as fitness, flexibility and weight loss but also learn the mental and spiritual qualities of determination, self discipline and will power.
